I’d do this in the client’s project template, so any future project from this client and only from this client won’t update the TMs. You can even update a local TM that get’s updated.

Hello Jesús Prieto , thanks a lot for your answer. I notice, I forgot to mention the project I have to work on are server based projects I access via GroupShare. So I cannot do anything on the template.

But beyond this specific case, I just noticed that the user profile do not seem to be of any influence on custom colors (look & feel) or update behaviour. So the underlying question would be: am I doing anything wrong or are these aspects not part of what a user profile is supposed to manage?

Could you please open your new user profile with a text editor (such as Notepad or Notepad++), search for the value of this AutoTmUpdateOnSegmentConfirm and confirm it is False (the value you wish)?

I confirm that the color settings are there as well (EditControlDisplaySettingsGroup element).

I’d try to create again the user profile with the color and ramining settings you wish. I used user profiles in the past, and a lot, and I hated them, because “I needed to think what I was doing”. If I remember well, the step asking to confirm to back up the actual user profile shows up too early (so “I needed to think”). Maybe you are like me and you doing something wrong… :-)

Please try to create the user profile one more time and let us know if it works.

After checking the two profiles according to your recommandation: the variables are defined differently in each of the user profiles I have created, which are good news.

This tells me that, as you said, the probable cause of error seems to be sitting in the front of the computer. I probably do not pick the right order of actions when trying to switch between profiles. I'll have to try further.

Maybe one last question: do you know how Studio handles the definition files? I have backed up my profiles in a folder which is not one of the trados studio standard folders.
Would it be better if the definition files were located there: C:\Program Files (x86)\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17\UserProfiles?

I believe I had the user profiles saved in the foder C:\Users\Your_User_Name\Documents\Studio 2022.

I think it's a bad idea to save user profiles in C:\Program Files (x86)\Trados\Trados Studio\Studio17\UserProfiles, as this folder keeps the master user profiles. They are used only if for some reason Trados needs to reset its settings with the default ones. Messing with the default user profiles will prevent Trados doing its thing, so you may end up reinstalling Trados. Definitely not the place I’d choose…
