Increasing the size of the embedded files in the project settings only works on files added to the project after you changed the setting as it affects the conversion from Word to sdlxliff. You could try adding the file again.

As an alternative, when prompted to specify the dependent file, try looking for the source file itself and not the temp file. To do so, change the at the bottom right from the name of the temp file to to *.docx (as shown below) and select the source file.

Not quite... this setting only affects the projects before you create them.  The higher it it the larger the embedded file can be that is contained in binary format within the sdlxliff file itself.  If this is low then when you send an SDLXLIFF to someone to translate you will need to send the source file with it if you want the target to be creatable.

I think your solution to locate the temp file would work if you can find it, but sometimes the easiest solution is to recreate your project and pre-translate from the TM.

Thinking about why this happens... maybe Alexandra Villeminey puts her projects on OneDrive or something like that?  If the source files get deleted locally by OneDrive and are only available in the cloud then I can imagine this happening.
