Can't create or use a termbase

Hello!

I can't create or use a termbase in Trados Studio 2022 SR1 - 17.1.8.17828

The termbase function stops working. It has happened, then went back to normal, then is happening again. It doesn't create a new termbase, use an existing one, add terms to a previously loaded one, or anything at all. Trados doesn't close properly as well when I try to.

I have tried updating Trados, reinstalling it, deleting the project and creating a new one, changing the file format, reaching for support from my local account manager, reading the forums, and more, to no success.

Everytime I try to add terms / create a termbase / use a termbase, it shows an error message (image / log below).

I need support for the termbases to function, please, as soon as possible. Thank you.

Error dialog box in Trados Studio with a red cross icon, displaying the message 'Referencia de objeto nao definida para uma instancia de um objeto.' with 'OK' button, 'Knowledge Base' and 'Community' links.

  • Hello,

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with the termbase function in Trados Studio 2022 SR1. The error message you're seeing seems to be related to a null reference exception, which means that the program is trying to access a part of memory that hasn't been initialized.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve this issue:

Step 1: Ensure that your operating system is up to date. This includes any available updates for .NET Framework, which Trados Studio relies on.

Step 2: Try to reset your Trados Studio settings. You can do this by going to the "File" menu, then "Setup", and then "Reset to Default Settings". Please note that this will remove any custom settings you have, so you may want to make a note of them first.

Step 3: If the issue persists, you may need to repair your installation of Trados Studio. You can do this by going to the "Control Panel", then "Programs and Features", finding Trados Studio in the list, right-clicking on it, and selecting "Repair".

Step 4: If none of the above steps work, you may need to uninstall and reinstall Trados Studio. Please make sure to back up any important data before doing this.

I hope these steps help you resolve the issue. If you continue to experience problems, please let us know.

    Best regards,
