I'm required to use Trados for an agency I'm working for. However, I work on a Mac and it does not support Trados. Which method is best to use the platform? By using Bootcamp - I understand I cannot use OS at the same time but it will be quicker OR install a virtual software such as Parallels or VMware? (expensive and slower.) Many thanks!

i've been using it on a macbook for 6 or 7 yeas now, it works well, I use parallel desktop, it's not free but I works perfectly, it's around 80 euros a year for the license. Be careful, it will install windows on your mac, it's seamless but it will require a very good mac with at least 16GB or ram since 2 OS are running at the same time, apart from that, it works perfectly
Also worth noting that there is a cloud version of Trados that you will have access to when you purchase Trados Studio. You can work with that in your MAC browser, and whilst you won't have the rich depth of features that are available with Studio you will be able to translate and return files to your agency.
Once you have a licence for Studio just visit this website, https://languagecloud.sdl.com/, and login with the same credentials as your RWS Account.

I am wondering if it works on a Mac with the new M chips, as you can install an ARM version of Windows, and I am not sure if Trados runs on it. I thought I would ask someone who already uses Trados on a Mac before going through the hassle of installing Parallels, Windows and Trados.

Hi Stella, it's more than 10 years that I use Trados on a mac, and it works quite fine. I am using Parallels Desktop. I have it both on a Intel Core and M2 core and there is no problem with it.
