Trados Studio: SLOW! A common problem... but can't find any answers: have you?

Like many of you, I have been searching everywhere for an answer to the slow loading of documents in Trados Studio.

But can't find an answer anywhere on this forum (see, e.g. (+) Trados is so slow... - 5. Machine Translation - Trados Studio - RWS Community)

I'm new to Trados... and in the next week, I have the option of renewing my WF package... which is very tempting because even loading a simple Trados file takes 10 minutes.

And, yes, I have the latest system. And yes, I have the latest Trados. And yes, I have tried everything that I have understood from the Forum suggestions - but the idea that I am going to do anything hyper-technical when my Studio is brand-new, my computer is brand-new... BMW don't ask me to go under the bonnet of my new car if it won't accelerate! (not that I have a BMW).

So, anyone have any anti-slow solutions?

    Thanks!

It took ≈ 19 seconds to add that presentation file to an existing local project in my Trados Studio 2022, build 17.2.9.18688, and my OS is Windows 10 with 16 GB of RAM. Which is the Trados Studio full version you are using? You have it on Help > About.

10 minutes is definitely too much. There must be something on your machine…

Does it happen all the time with any kind of file? I mean, a simple TXT file should take just a couple of seconds.

Could you please try with OneDrive disabled (probably enabled in your brand-new laptop)?

Let’s see if we can find the culprit.

Hi, yep, I thought about OneDrive, and it is disabled. Yes, it happens with, say, a small (1000 word) Word doc. Ditto TXT files. Thanks again.Trados Studio software window with the logo visible and a loading message that reads 'Initializing views...'. Version 2022 SR2 - 17.2.9.18688 is displayed at the top.

Have you got any anti-virus software running? If so, could you please disable it temporarlily while you try again?

If it doesn’t work, try repairing Studio (procedure here [workaround 1]: https://gateway.sdl.com/apex/communityknowledge?articleName=000001414)

If it still doesn’t work, please reject this answer and post the exact steps you follow, possibly with screenshots, so we know what you are doing.

I'm tagging  in case she can give you a better option.

    Hi again,

None of the options I have tried - following everyone's kind advice - works, including repairing Studio.

My preference now is to ask to be reimbursed; I do not have the time to play around with a product that seems to be glitched.

    Thanks again.

Please reject my answer above and let’s see if   or   can help you.

You didn’t state the exact steps followed to open files in Studio.

I’m a user like you, and I believe that there is an issue with your setup. If Trados Studio were glitched, there would be tons of complains about this extreme slowness…
