Trados Studio 2022 SR2 takes ages (really) to open single files or merged files

Hi all,

The issue I'm encountering was already present in Trados Studio 2022 and SR1, and hasn't changed a bit after updating to SR2.

It's very simple: it takes several minutes to open ordinary files for edition, and opening several files at once is sometimes impossible (the progress bar gets stuck at 100%, and is still that way after cleaning the kitchen AND tidying the living-room).

I'm talking about *local* files, coming from regular Trados projects that are located on my *laptop*, between 300KB and 5MB each. They used to open so well in Trados 2021. I'm not using any cloud/online resource.

Once it's open (when it does), Trados is a breeze and I love it just like I loved all of its predecessors. Studio 2022 is the only version of Trados where I've had such issues. And it's driving me mad because I don't like to open files in Trados Studio 2021 just to get work done. Trados Studio 2022 is better.

Do you have any clue? What sort of plug-ins, TMs, TBs or options should I try to change or disable?

Thank you!

Changed "desktop" to "laptop". I was thinking "desktop computer", not the actual Windows Desktop.

So your processor is an i7 U, similar to mine. Opening files takes here also longer as on the desktop.

Beside the MS Security Option check also you energy settings. Most probably your PC is set up to allow to drop the processor down to 30% of its power. I changed this to 100% with external power supply and 70% when working with battery. This made things a little better.

But I know, when I will buy a new laptop, I shall by all means avoid an U processor. These are low-voltage processors, but not as powerfull as their desktop companions. So an i7 in a laptop is not the same as i7 in a desktop and the difference might be huge. As already stated, an older i9-11900K is much (really much) faster than the newer i7-1250U.
