Can't you just delete the image in the target document?

The recommended procedure when translating PDFs is to edit the Source Word document (with the extracted text) or create it manually, and only then open this edited Word document in Trados Studio. Since you have it already translated, you can edit the target document.

The procedure was perfectly working on 2019. In addition, if I 'just' delete the image. All the fprmat disppear wich is no added value to swtich from 2019 up to 2022. Conversion was done by Trados and format was working properly.

Can you find a solution out ?

Not 2 PDFs are the same and this one seems to be quite different than the usual PDFs I've found.

The engine has completely changed - forced to do this due to significantly spiralling costs of the solution we used previously.

I suggest you always convert to Word first, tidy it up (which you would have to do in the target file if the file was a PDF translated) and then translate the Word file.  This will be a significantly better translation experience anyway and the target will need less tidy up... only possible changes due to language expansion/contraction.

Lost of efficiency compared to previous version. Is there any another solution than doing it all y myself ?

If you look in the source language folder of your project the file has probably already been converted to a Word file.  This always happened as Studio actually translated the Word conversion anyway.  So just take that Word file, make sure it's ok, and if you're happy translate that.

Shouldn't be too much doing it by yourself and this was always a better solution for anything but the simplest PDF files even in the past.

There is also an App on the appstore that will do this conversion for you, and it will even OCR any images within the document: appstore.rws.com/.../197

The plugin erase the initial and use Word conversion technology which is the poorest technology in term of conversion.

I paid an updagrade and got as a final to do it by myself meanwhile the previous version was doing it alone because of a reason cost.

Do you have any other option to keep the conversion identical with a better automated Trados technology ?

Would you have paid a significant increase in the cost of Studio if we tried to keep the existing technology?  I doubt it.  We changed the technology to be able to still provide a solution and in general it works ok - but it does lack OCR.  Hence we created the plugin and despite what you say there are files where this plugin out performs many other solutions.

Ultimately PDF files can be difficult to manage and the best solution for anyone dealing with these formats regularly would be a proper copy of Adobe or something like Abbyy FineReader so you can convert the PDF to Word first.  Clean it up and then translate the PDF.

For all we know this particular file you have could contain something unusual that may have been problematic in other solutions too.  PDF files are not all the same.

I prefer to invest in technology but even that option is not offered to us.

So we consider 2022 as being a hug dwngrade compared to previous one on that aspect.

I wouldn't disagree completely with that.  In general PDF handling was better with Solid Converter.  But as I said, any professional dealing with PDF files wouldn't use the Studio filetype anyway.  So I don't think there is much lost here.  The old solution also needed IRIS as a plugin to handle OCR and that was also limited... the plugin you dislike actually performs better in the tests we have conducted and lets you start the translation with a converted DOCX so you don't need to create a project first.

But if this PDF filetype was the only reason you used Trados Studio for translation then yes... I would agree the 2022 version is a downgrade.

Then invest in a better PDF tool for preparing files for translation.  Trados Studio will never satisfy full requirements for PDF conversion.  It never did, and it never will.  If you found it suited your needs perfectly for PDF conversion then you were very fortunate.

2019 working properly and 2022 not on that PDF aspect this is for sure a downgrade.

I note to change of translation provider.

Have you tried this particular PDF in the old 2019?

Perfect in 2019 same method.

2022 => Double superposition of souce and targer !

DoesTrados reimbulse for downgrades ?
