Opening/Saving packages/Trados 2015

Hello, when I want to save a package in another folder than the default folder, I have to create the folder first and then select it.  With Trados 2011, I didn´t need to create each time a new folder (very time-consuming!), it saved the package automatically in the requested path, with the corresponding package number. I just had to select the path once, then, all the new projects were automatically saved in this path, with a new folder for every new package.
Is this not possible anymore with Trados 2015?
Many thanks in advance for your help!

  • Thanks Walter,

The next release should do the second one at least, but I'd rather see some options for setting a path for anything that needs one.

P.S.: Let me point out that your video is in a file format that is not supported in Chrome. This makes it necessary to copy the URL and open it in another browser in order to be able to watch the video.

That's odd... I'm using Chrome and it seems fine for me.  It's a youtube video not a file loaded to the community.

This explains it. It was blocked by the "Restricted mode" of YouTube (which I guess is "On" by default because I can't remember having changed this setting, I didn't even know here it was buried before I looked at this issue now).

Another remark on using YouTube: I know that it is very convenient to post videos on YouTube, but are you aware that many companies block the access to YouTube from within the company? This means that a lot of corporate users of Studio cannot access all the tutorials available on Youtube. I often faced the situation where I sent links to users for tutorial videos and received the answer "Sorry, I cannot watch this video from my company PC, I'll have to do it when I am at home from my private PC". This also to many of the tutorial links of the "Welcome" view in Studio.

    Hi Walter,

I must admit I have never come across this before so I think it must be a few rather than more!  I think this is unfortunate for those companies, but don't think we should be duplicating everything we make available on youtube to satisfy the needs of a few.  It's by far the most effective way to share video content to a wider audience.

I guess when we do work for organisations like this then services could be provided to make them available in other formats.

    Regards

  • Maybe it is mainly a problem of the "more security minded " Swiss[:D]

I have the same problem with Dropbox for example, I can't use it to make files available for download because most companies (at least in Switzerland) do block Dropbox (and other cloud services too).
