How to hide certain translation memory fields from showing in Translation Results and Concordance Search windows?

For example, I would like to hide the field "Backup" encircled in red.

Trados Studio Project Settings window with 'Backup' field circled in red under the 'Note' column, indicating a request to hide this field.

If it is not possible to hide the fields, how can I add data to translation units (TUs) in TMX file so that Trados Studio would not show it and retain it upon translation memory export?

  • Hello,

To hide certain fields from showing in the Translation Results and Concordance Search windows in Trados Studio, you can follow these steps:

    Step 1: Open Trados Studio.

Step 2: Go to the "File" menu and select "Options".

Step 3: In the Options window, navigate to the "Translation Memory and Automated Translation" section.

Step 4: Under this section, select "Translation Memory View Settings".

Step 5: In the "Translation Memory View Settings" window, you will see a list of all the fields that can be displayed in the Translation Results and Concordance Search windows.

Step 6: Uncheck the box next to the field you want to hide. In your case, uncheck the "Backup" field.

Step 7: Click "OK" to save your changes and close the Options window.

As for adding data to translation units (TUs) in a TMX file so that Trados Studio would not show it and retain it upon translation memory export, this is not currently possible. Trados Studio is designed to display all the data in a TMX file in the Translation Results and Concordance Search windows. However, you can raise an enhancement request with the Trados Studio Development Team to have this feature implemented.

I hope this helps! If you have any other questions, feel free to ask.

You can only affect what's displayed in a general way under File -> Options -> Editor -> Translation Results Window:

Trados Studio options menu with Editor settings open, showing Translation Results Window options. A red arrow points to 'Show translation unit field values' dropdown set to 3.

You might get lucky in your case and setting that to show one field might only pick up the top one... not sure.  But this would be pure luck and no science around being able to select a specific field.

how can I add data to translation units (TUs) in TMX file so that Trados Studio would not show it and retain it upon translation memory export?

Not possible.  You either have the fields in the TM, or you don't.
