Hello everybody, my question is why Studio sometimes creates copies of some of my TB!? I then never know which TB to use, the original TB or the copy!? Thank you for your help.
Hello everybody, my question is why Studio sometimes creates copies of some of my TB!? I then never know which TB to use, the original TB or the copy!? Thank you for your help.
Could you please upload a screenshot of the copies of the TBs? There shouldn’t be copies…
Dear Jesús, here is just one example:
Here another one:
You store your files in cloud, don't you? If so, this is the cause of your problem.
Hello Mr. Czopik, as far as I know I don't. I have my TB under the file documents:
I looks to me that the Windows operating system appended the string - Kopie and not Trados Studio. Are you sure you didn’t copy & paste the file, via CTRL+C and CTRL+V shortcut or via the mouse? Sometimes it happens to me when I want to quickly select several files with the mouse + CTRL key…
Anyway, if the right Textil.sdltb is set in your Project Settings, you’ll be using that TB by default, unless you change in your Project Settings.
Sorry, my first impression was cloud. But looking onyour files I see big differences in sizes and save dates. I am quite certain it is not Studio, which duplicated the files, but it was you. Especially the file named "Kleidung - Kopie.sdltb" is something created by Windows Explorer, when one tried to insert a file with the same name into the same folder. When you select a file in Windows Explorer and pres STRG+C it will be copied. When you now press STRG+V the same file will be inserted in this location and Windows will add "Kopie" to its name. The best solution now would be to remove all duplicate files, leaving only the newest and biggest files.
Should this unexpectedly happen again, check your user names in Windows. It is possible, that TBs have been created with another user logged in Windows as the user who now uses Studio.
Thank you Jesús, it is interesting, that you say it could be due to the Windows operating system. I cannot remember having copied and pasted the file (never use this shortcut). The question is now: if I want to transfer this TB onto my new computer, which TB should I copy? The original file? Will I lose the data in the copies then? Is there some kind of an upgrade I have to do if I copy it to my new computer with a new Studio Version? Thank you very much for your answer.
The only secure way to know which files are necessary is opening them one by one and checking which one contains the most entries. Certainly the bigger and newer files should only be considered. Then note the names of the necessary files and move these to your new computer.
Thank you Mr. Czopik, can I ask you too if I need to do an upgrading of my TBs (like it is recommended for the TMs) once I want to move my TBs from an older version to a newer and from my old computer to a newer!? Thanks a lot again and best regards.
