Trados 2022 crashes when adding terms to term base

I'm working on a 180,000+ word editing project (15 files opened at the same time to keep consistency) in Trados 2022, trying to create a term base on the side.

Adding new terms in the beginning was no problem, but now that I'm around 30% in, Trados will crash when trying to add a new term (either via Quick Add... or Add New...).

When this occurs, my CPU temperature spikes and Trados becomes unresponsive, throwing the error message "Not enough quota is available to process this command" when I close Trados. The only way to get it to work again is to restart Trados 2022.

I'm running Trados on a Windows 11 PC with 64GB RAM, and a 13900KS.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Go to Add-Ins in Trados Studio and install "Rapid Add Term" (RAT). Then restart Studio. Go to File -> Options -> Keyboard Shortcuts and remove CTRL+SHIFT+F2 for "Quick add new term", Then restart Studio again. Now adding terms should work in the background, completely invisible. Please only note, that the newly added term will not appear immediately after being added, but only after you leave the segment and return there or go to the next one.

  • Thank you, Jerzy. I just followed your instructions but, unfortunately, the issue persists.

So something must have changed in your Trados Studio. In this case I would simply reset Trados. Description here: gateway.sdl.com/.../communityknowledge
