Trados 2024. My first projects.

My first project is ready. However, the progress bar shows 0%, but, recently there was 100%!!! And, when opening the project there are the following details: STATUS: TRANSLATION APPROVED. In mY SECOND TASK, the progress bar shows 67,41% and the details are: STATUS: TRANSLATED. What shall I do? Thank you!

  • I do not like to post here the screenshots , these are confidential. However, now I will post here some screenshots. And, sorry for my late reply, right now I was learning to make screenshots. I have a new laptop and I am not used to it yet.

Well, I have tried to insert but I cannot find how...

  • When you answer, you'll find a menu "Insert" below the text field. Click there and chose "Image/Video/File". You can then navigate your system and add the desired screenshot.

But first tell me, how do you prepare your projects and open these for edition after having closed and restarted Studio.

  • How do I prepare my projects and open these for edition after having closed and restarted Studio? I browse the document for translation, select translate a single document, select my language pair, source-target, then click used and select file based translation memory (when it is about a related content, the same field... and then I click open.

  • Perfect, so it is a single file approach. This is how do you start for the first time. But what happens, if you have to close Trados Studio, for example to take some rest. How do you open your project again?

All you need to do is copy the screen, or part of the screen with the windows snipping tool, or some other tool, then paste it straight into your post.  No need to use the Insert menu unless you have saved the image as a file on your computer first.

  • Thank you. I have already managed to insert all screenshots yesterday. There were here somewhere. I think they still must be here.

  • Well, when I want to take a break, and the project is not ready yet, I simply click on save. When the project is finished I clisk on Save traget file/ Save target as/ Rename / Save.

How do I open my project again? Well. not too sure here. I had to open projects , then files, then click on the file I want to continue with.

It sounds as though you use the Translate Single Document every time you want to work on the file.  If you do this you could be creating a new project each time.  Once you have opened the file for translation, make sure you then save it, and then after that just open it from the projects view and not through the use of translate single document again.

I think the reason Jerzy went down this route is that you might not be consistent in the way you are working and as a result you're seeing different statuses as you work.  If you're working for yourself it probably doesn't matter what the statuses are unless you're using them to track your progress through a translation and review cycle for example.  The reason it doesn't matter is that you can save the translation at any point when you know all the translations are populated irrespective of the actual status.

You mentioned this was your first project so in case it helps I just explained a few basics in this video that might be helpful for you:
