In Studio 2024, where is the function that compares an SDLXLIFF file with the content of a TM?

Hi Community Specialists!

In Studio 2019 (and in previous versions) it was possible to open an SDLXLIFF file and press a key combination (CTRL + ALT + F?) that would, segment by segment, compare each TU with the TM.

Studio would run through all the segments automatically until it found a TU where the SDLXLIFF file and the TM had different translations. You could then decide which translation to use, and press the key combination again so Studio saves the chosen translation and looks for the next segment that does not match the translation in the TM.

This function appears to be missing in Studio 2024 (I upgraded recently directly from 2019), or I've forgotten the key combination!

Help much appreciated!

Many thanks indeed

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Giles,

The feature you're referring to is known as "Translation Memory (TM) Lookup". In Trados Studio 2024, the process to compare an SDLXLIFF file with the content of a TM is slightly different than in previous versions. Here are the steps:

Step 1: Open your SDLXLIFF file in Trados Studio 2024.

Step 2: Go to the "Editor" view.

Step 3: Select the segment you want to compare.

Step 4: Press the F3 key. This will trigger the TM Lookup and compare the selected segment with the TM.

Step 5: If there are differences between the SDLXLIFF file and the TM, they will be highlighted in the TM Lookup results.

Step 6: You can then decide which translation to use.

Please note that Trados Studio no longer automatically runs through all the segments. You will need to manually select each segment and press F3 to compare it with the TM.

If you're looking for a more automated solution, you might want to consider using the SDLXLIFF Toolkit, as mentioned in the context. This tool offers a rich set of options for segment selection and search criteria, and allows you to perform various actions on selected segments.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.

Good effort from RWS Community AI. but no banana ;-)

Maybe this is what you need:

Dropdown menu in Trados Studio with options for confirming translations. A red arrow points to 'Confirm and Translate until Next Fuzzy Match' option with shortcut Ctrl+Alt+B.
