Word 2016 files are not recognized by Studio 2014

Question

A week ago, I bought the new Office 2016 Home and Business package from Microsoft. Some months ago (just a few days before your announcement for Studio 2015, I upgraded to Studio 2014 from 2011, as well). 
 Before I was using Office 2013 and it was working perfect eith Studio 2014. Now Studio 2014 does not recognize my word 2016 docx files. I asked Microsoft if they changed some format in their docx structure, but they answered me that there is no change as far as the format is concerned. It is the same as word 2013 docx format. 
 Pls advice urgently. I can not use new docx files from word 2016 in Studio 2014. What should I do?

 It is well possible that Studio 2014 will be updated to include support for Office 2016 files, but it is not the case at the time we speak. 
 I was trying to give you a helpful answer in your situation, which you described as "urgent", because you could not go on with your work. So, upgrading to 2015 would indeed allow you to solve your problem now (before S2014 supports Office 2016). 
 You can find more detailed information about the support for Office 2016 in this KB article . 
 In addition, as you mentioned that you purchased your upgrade to 2014 just a few days before 2015 came out, you might be eligible for a free upgrade to 2015. I suggest you check with your SDL representative whether this applies.

Hi Selim, 
 Walter is correct. The new Word format will be supported in Studio 2015 but not Studio 2014. If you really purchased an upgrade a few days before the announcement then there is a pretty good chance you are entitled to Studio 2015 anyway. I've forgotten the cut-off date but if you contact our chatline they may be able to help you out.

I had the same problem. I simply converted the Word file into RTF format. Then it worked.

 I just wanted to add a comment to this. It may well work, but note that unless the material was simple text it's very likely you'll lose something in the final target by downgrading the file. It makes sense to be sure your client will be happy with this approach before doing the work and then not getting paid for the result.
