I think the points Jesús Prieto  made are probably relevant because even with these  limits to work to the type of content, length of segments etc. can cause variations.  It's not a hard and fast science and even 5000 entries is by no means large.  If you are creating memories for each project perhaps you should consider merging them into one?

Well, the referenced page also says "Fragment alignment is available for TMs with more than 1,000 TUs" - But it is not available with 1800 or even 4500+ TUs on my computer.

Also, if it is not available because of the size of my TM, why can I click the Fragment Alignment On/Off button at the top of the dialog window?

All my  legal translations are in one TM, it currently has about 50 projects in it.

Ok… can you share your TM? If you can send it to pfilkin at SDL dotcom we can take a look and perhaps see why it’s not possible with your Tm.

also… just to check the obvious as I didn’t see it in this thread. Have you uograded the TM? Does it have a small orange circle on the icon when you use it in Studio?

Because it has crashed several times (failed to add new TUs), over the past few months I have exported its contents and imported into a new TM (all in Studio 2024). So it is in the latest format.

That’s not what I asked you. Upgrading the Tm is a rather unfortunate term we used to describe ensuring that the TM has been prepared for fragment matching.

Oh, I see. A bit confusing indeed.

Thanks for sending me your TM.  I think I can see a couple of reasons why you cannot use this for fragment matching yet:

1. TMs are bilingual and not multilingual.  Your TM is a mixture of English to Hungarian and Korean to Hungarian.  This is going to reduce its ability to be used for fragment matching, and
2. In general the contents are very short phrases and this also reduces the ability for an effective model to be built.  It is based on statistics and the >1000 TUs is only guidance.

So I think you should first of all clean up your TM and make sure that the languages don't get mixed up, this will help.  Then secondly it may just be that you need more content before the software is able to effectively create the upgraded TM.
