"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide more information about the steps you have taken so far, the exact version of Trados Studio 2022 you are using, and your operating system. This will help in providing a more accurate solution.
In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:
Hello,
To enter superscript in Trados Studio 2022, you need to ensure that the formatting tags are displayed in the Editor view. Here are the steps to do this:
Step 1: Open Trados Studio 2022.
Step 2: Go to the "View" tab.
Step 3: Look for the "Options" group on the right of the ribbon.
Step 4: Click on the button "Toggle display of formatting tags". This should activate the formatting icons.
If the icons are still greyed out, it might be due to the source document not allowing formatting changes. In this case, you would need to change the formatting in the source document and then import it again into Trados Studio.

Which format is the source file?
Superscript formatting is available in DOCX, PowerPoint and some others filetypes, but if it is a plain text TXT, or an XML, for example, the is no way to do that, hence, the superscript button is disabled (btw, all other formatting buttons are disabled as well).
If you still need the character 2 as supercript, you may want to copy and paste tis character ², the Unicode version of 2.
oh Jesús, thank you so much for that explanation and for the character (unicode version of 2). I tried with ctrl. shift and + but it didn't work. The source file is xxx.docx.sdlxliff!

If the button is grayed-out (this is what you said), the shorcut won't work either.
The source file is xxx.docx.sdlxliff!
I understand that you were given a file with the extension SDLXLIFF, and not a DOCX word document?
yes, the ending of the file is sdlxliff. But before the sdlxliff ending comes a docx! Now I constantly get the message that "a part of the path cannot be found" when I try to save the document..... :(
yes, the ending of the file is sdlxliff.
This means it’s an SDLXLIFF. If the SDLXLIFF was created from a DOCX document, then the supercript button should be active. I can’t think why it’s not…
Is the superscript button disabled in every segment? Or is it disabled only in some particular segments?
Now I constantly get the message that "a part of the path cannot be found" when I try to save the document..... :(
A different issue… This can be caused by using Onedrive or a similar service. Please search for the error in this forum, and you will have the solution there.
yes unfortunately it is greyed out in every segment. oh no and now all my projects have disappeared. Only the sample project is left!
yes unfortunately it is greyed out in every segmen
If you insert the sdlxliff, I can have a look at it.
oh no and now all my projects have disappeared. Only the sample project is left!
OneDrive can cause this…
and why did I lose my translated segments and Trados doesn't ask me if I want a newly saved file??
