Fuzzy match 99%: how to confirm them without having the orange symbol (that means I’ve not modified them)?

Hello!

I’ve a lot of 99% du to alignment. I’m 100% sure that they are 100%.

Do I have, in Trados, or with a AutoHotKey script, the possibility to change their status and to confirm them in bulk way?

I ask because for the moment I’m doing, space, delete space, confirm segment... and that’s pretty time consuming :-)

Yep, this is what I would use to confirm the matches in a pretranslated file, where the minimum match values was set accordingly. However, this will not work for pretranslation. If you want to have the pretranslation with the align results, you need my approach.

  • Of course! I agree! Your approach definitely saves time!

But, since we are with this topic....if the alignment penalty exists, it has been added for some reason. When it´s a tag problem, we replace the tag...but when it´s an alignment issue, 99% match appears, but then....we don´t even know it is an alignment problem. And we do nothing about it, just confirm, right???

Could you , please, explain what this "alignment issue was added for? Cause if I can just put it to zero in the General Settings, without entailing any format problems, I will do that. And then I will have more 100% results....

    Thanks in advance, Jerzy!

Have you ever done the alignment yourself? Either in WinAlign (where it was much easier) or in Trados Studio? If yes, then you will already know the answer. If not, the answer is quite simple: you are not able to check all the segments as thoroughly as during the translation. Having to check the segments one by one, the time invested in alignment would never pay off. So the results of any alignment may be prone to errors. This is why a penalty for alignment exists. In Trados 2007 or earlier this was even 3%. And IMO this penalty is really required. Alignment is not completely reliable.

  • The only alignment I did was this (document alignment to feed the TM):

Screenshot of Trados Studio menu with options including 'Configuracion del proyecto', 'Update from reviewed documents', 'Alinear documentos', and 'Crear diccionario AutoSuggest'.

However, something tells me that penalties are about another type of alignment Slight smile

Could you send me a link to a tutorial?? To read about the topic and ask more logic questions?

I am sorry, but you overestimate my capacities. I do not have any tutorials on alignment. When aligning already small differences in the use of abbreviations or changes in paragraphs may render the result useless, unless the alignment is being performed very carefully. But even then you cannot avoid errors, or at least this is what my experience is telling me.
