Fehlermeldung "Objektverweis wurde nicht auf eine Objektinstanz festgelegt"

I have a MT project where tracking changes is enabled. At one point when trying to make a change with search and replace at place where I already had made changes previously, I got an error message which I can not remember. After saving the project and closing and re-openging Trados, I received the error message "Objektverweis wurde nicht auf eine Objektinstanz festgelegt". And this file of project does no longer open. "reseting the view" to not help. Another file in the project is not affected.

The complete error message is as follows:

Looks like your file is damaged. You could try to switch off the validation of the sdlxiff file in your Project settings. You will find this in File types in the sdlxliff file type under "General". Please pay attention to change this in Project settings and NOT in File -> Options.

If that does not help, restore the file from your last backup.

  • Thank you. Unfortunately, switching of the validation did not help.

Would restoring the file from back-up work like this:

    - Removing project from project list

    - Double click on file in target language folder

The project has two files and I need to deliver both in a return folder. How would I get bot files into the project?

Thank you for your help. Unfortunately, I'm not very knowledgeable with Trados, as I usually do not need to set up the projects as I receive them in a package.

    Sorry to hear that.

Copy the damaged file to an extra folder, just in case. You can simply then replace the damaged file in the target folder with the same file from your backup. Of course the file should not be opened in Studio. You do not need to remove the project or do anything else. Simply replacing the file should help. Obviously, changes between current time and the last backup will be lost. Should you by any chance have had this file stored in OneDrive, then you could try to restore the previous version before the crash online. OneDrive keeps versions online, however, I cannot tell for how long. I recently used this to restore one file from the morning on the same day and that worked.
