Studio 2024 installing but not working

After working with a trial version of Studio 2024, I decided I might venture investing in it hoping for some return on the investment. So, today I purchased a licence. I started working on my project - which happens to be due tomorrow - and was hoping for as carefree a use as I had experienced during the trial period. I couldn't have been more wrong. The problem started when I found out I couldn't search for words or phrases within the text (Ctrl+F didn't work and the search feature in the ribbon was greyed out. I noticed there was an update available in the side panel. I thought: "hey, who knows that might fix it". Again, how wrong was I. Not only was the search issue not solved, Studio didn't even show. The mask, yes, all sorts of background operations, seemed to be going on too. And then: nothing! I've tried everything I could think of. I'm a simple user, I'm not getting excited in a positive way when software that is supposed to help me (and at what price!) is in fact making my life difficult and might make my client very unhappy. For indeed: I am using it for one client only (all others have moved to online platforms - with usually a responsive helpdesk).

I'm not expecting any useful answer within the time window I have available. I've already hoped too much in vain today. I seriously regret my purchase, it's been a waste of money and a waste of time. Yet, I will be so very grateful to anyone who can help me feel slightly less ripped off.

Probably too late by now... sorry we missed your reply.

In any case, the issue now is that I cannot continue to work on my file and will need to start from scratch. Or can I somehow access that file and continue using it in another programme or Studio version?

The files are all stored locally.  You can see where in the "Location" column of the projects View.  You can also right-click on a project and select Open Project Folder which will open the location of the project files.  Look in the target language folder and you'll find the SDLXLIFF files in there which you can work on directly.  Or try and open the SDLPROJ using Open Project from the ribbon.
