How to add strikethrough formatting? Trados Studio 2024. Source text should be in strikethrough; cannot add strikethrough to target. How?

Bold, Italic, Underline --- these are all available on Trados Studio 2024.

Strikethrough? Not so much. This is a basic formatting feature on any basic word processor. Where is it on Trados?

When my source text is strikethrough, the target segment also automatically reflects that. So Trados can do it. But when there is an error in multiple source segments and the strikethrough is not detected, what am I supposed to do? Leave a TN in each segment saying "sorry this should be strikethrough?"

Am I really to believe that Trados Studio 2024, with a pricetag several times that of MS Word, lacks much of the basic functionality available on any 1990s word processor.

Thanks in advance!

"Question improvement suggestion": Please provide more information about the file type you are working with and the steps you have taken to try to add the strikethrough formatting. Also, it would be helpful to know if you have encountered any error messages during this process.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

I understand your concern about the strikethrough formatting in Trados Studio 2024. Unfortunately, Trados Studio does not support the strikethrough formatting in the same way as word processors like MS Word. However, there are a few workarounds you can try:

Step 1: Make sure that the tags are not applied to the entire sentence, as Trados Studio may hide such tags in the Editor. Formatting tags should be visible when applied to specific parts of the text within a segment.

Step 2: If the strikethrough is not detected in multiple source segments, you can manually add the formatting tags in the target segments. To do this, you can copy the tag from the source segment and paste it in the target segment.

Step 3: If necessary, modify the source file to apply formatting to specific words or phrases rather than entire sentences. This might help Trados Studio to detect the strikethrough formatting.

Step 4: If none of the above steps work, you can indeed leave a Translator's Note (TN) in each segment indicating that the text should be strikethrough. This can serve as a reminder for you or other translators working on the project.
