Dear Technical Support,
We are facing a critical issue with Trados 2024 that is impacting our product manual release timeline, and we urgently need your support to resolve it.
The problem occurs when translating *.mif files created with Adobe FrameMaker 2017. Despite trying both the "Adobe FrameMaker 8-2020 MIF" and "Adobe FrameMaker 8-2022 MIF V2" file types in Trados, conditional text is incorrectly parsed in the translated file. Specifically, content in the original MIF files that is not marked as conditional text is incorrectly tagged as conditional text in the translated MIF file. This creates a significant workload for our team, as manually correcting these errors is extremely time-consuming and disruptive to our workflow.
This issue has already impacted our product manual release schedule, making a timely resolution critical.
Our MIF document includes six defined conditions:
-
A8
-
A8 Pro/A8C
-
A80/A80C
-
A9
-
A9 Pro/A9C
-
A90/A90C
As shown in the attached example files, the text "XXXX" in our source file does not have any conditional text applied. However, after being processed by Trados, the "XXXX" text incorrectly receives a conditional text tag.

We urgently request your technical team to investigate whether this is due to a configuration issue on our end or a software bug that requires a fix in a future release. Initial testing shows that memoQ handles the same files without any issues regarding conditional text parsing. While we strongly prefer to continue using Trados due to our established workflows and extensive translation memory, we will have no choice but to switch to memoQ if this issue cannot be resolved promptly, as ensuring production deadlines is our top priority.
We have attached both our sample MIF document and a screenshot of the parsing result for your reference. Please let us know how we can assist you in troubleshooting this issue. If you require any additional information, we are more than happy to provide it.
We look forward to your prompt response and support.
Best regards,
