We have exported a language.xml file from Schema ST4 and would like to translate it. Unfortunately, the texts to be translated are not displayed when the project is created in Trados. When translating the individual file, the following error message is displayed: ‘Validation on XML file was not performed because there is no linked or embedded DTD/schema.’ There are 2 dtd files in the exported folder. Why can't Trados find them?
Are you using the settings file available from your client? Quanos customers working with Schema ST4 all have their own settings file for Trados Studio configured for their specific usecase. You should ask for the settings file and create your Trados projects using that.

Hello Paul,
I am not the customer but would be the client. If we have the translations in our TMs, we translate them ourselves. The settings file has not changed since the upgrade to Trados Studio 2024 and all previous translation projects could also be created without any problems. It's just this specific xml file that is structured slightly differently to the usual files:
The parser rules also worked in the previous version. We have not had to translate the language.xml since the upgrade, so the problem is only now becoming apparent. Are the parser rules correct?

In the "SCHEMA ST4" file type settings try adding tms.dtd in the Validation section, not as a rule. That section isn't used in the way you're trying: https://docs.rws.com/en-US/1145319/337601
Alternatively, disable the validation unless it's really important for you to have this check for a file you only wish to translate?

I did that, then I got 300 warnings.
I have deactivated the validation, but the text to be translated is still not displayed. :(
ok - it's quite difficult to be really helpful without having proper files to work with, but if this file is not working for you and your normal files are then why don't you just create a new filetype for it? If they are all strings coming from on value attribute then you only need a very simple rule to extract that text and ignore everything else.
Probably a lot simpler than the route you are going at the moment.

Hello Paul, thank you very much for your help. I still had to add the base element l:langdata to ‘File Recognition’ and move the new file type to the correct position in the file type overview. Now it works. Case closed :)
