Segments not changing to draft status when changes are made

In all previous documents I have translated in Studio, when I alter the text in a confirmed segment, the status changes to "draft".

Today, I am working on an .sdlxliff file that someone sent me to translate, however, if I translate a segment, confirm it, and then go back to alter some text in it, the segment remains confirmed, i.e. it doesn't revert to draft status. How can I force the document into the default mode of reverting to draft status automatically when a change is made in the segment?

Thank you in advance.

  • Dear Robert,

If I have understood correctly, you are confirming segments after making your changes. If you want the status of a segment that you have made changes in to remain as draft, don't confirm it.

Confirming a segment in Translation mode* changes its status from 'draft' to 'translated' to indicate that you have finished with that segment. It also saves the segment to the translation memory(ies) that you have set to update.

I hope this answers you question.

    All the best,
    Ali

(*in Review mode, confirming a segment changes its status to 'Translation approved' and in Sign-off mode to 'Signed off').
  • Thank you, Alison, but no, what I mean is that when I make a change to text within a segment whose status is "confirmed", it should, as I understand it, revert to "unconfirmed" to indicate to me that it needs to be confirmed again (as for example when you find and replace a term in various segments), otherwise those changes will not be entered in the TM. However, this is not happening in this document and I can't understand why, so if I use the find and replace feature, I have to go back and find the replaced terms again in order to confirm the segments, I can't simply use the filter to find all unconfirmed segments, because they don't appear as unconfirmed.
