Referencia a objeto no establecida como estancia de un objeto

Hello,

I was just working on a file, saved the progress, and closed Trados Studio. Upon re-opening the app and clicking on the file to resume work, I get the message "Referencia a objeto no establecida como instancia de un objeto", and the file won't open.

I have tried rebooting the PC, reparing the app, clicking on "Reset Window Layout", opening the SDLXLIFF directly, and nothing works. Any help would be much appreciated.

Best,

Pedro

Question improvement suggestion: Include the exact version of Trados Studio you are using and any recent changes made to your system or software.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Pedro,

It sounds like you're encountering a frustrating issue with Trados Studio. The error message "Referencia a objeto no establecida como instancia de un objeto" typically indicates a problem with the application trying to access an object that hasn't been properly initialized. Here are some steps you can take to try and resolve this issue:

    **Step 1:** Restart Trados Studio

    - Close Trados Studio completely and then reopen it. Sometimes, a simple restart can resolve temporary glitches.

    **Step 2:** Reset Window Layout

    - Go to the View tab and select "Reset Window Layout." This can help if the issue is related to the user interface.

    **Step 3:** Check for Updates

    - Ensure that you are using the latest version of Trados Studio. Go to Help > Check for Updates and install any available updates.

    **Step 4:** Reset User Settings

    - Close Trados Studio. Navigate to the following directory:

     `C:\Users\[Your_Username]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\`

Rename the folder corresponding to your version (e.g., `15.0.0.0` for Trados Studio 2019) to something like `15.0.0.0_old`. This will reset your user settings.

    **Step 5:** Recreate the Project

    - If the problem persists, consider recreating the project using the same source file. This can help if the original project file is corrupted.

    **Step 6:** Check for Plugins

    - Sometimes, third-party plugins can cause issues. Open SDL Plugin Management and uninstall any plugins that might be causing conflicts.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, it may be beneficial to look into the specific error further or consider reinstalling Trados Studio.
