Client TM attached in Studio package but not enabled

Hi, I've opened a Studio package from an agency which has the client TM attached. However,  in 'project settings' although the client TM name is there, I can't tick (check) the 'enabled' box. Also there is a red X against the TM name. Does this mean the agency has omitted to 'enable' it for me or do I need to do something else?    (see screenshot). Thanks for any help.

Please deselect the check-box in front of the TM name. Then select the "Enabled" checkbox. If there is a TM in the package, this should work.

Otherwise go to the folder where your received the package and explore the subfolders there. You should find one named TM. Check its content. If there is a TM, use the "Use" button in your screenshot to add the TM.

However, should the TM be not present, your Studio would have shown you a warning.

Question improvement suggestion: Please specify the version of Trados Studio you are using, as the behavior regarding TM settings may vary between versions.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Marie,

It sounds like you're encountering an issue with the client Translation Memory (TM) in your Trados Studio project. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot this issue:

    Step 1: **Check Permissions**

Ensure that you have the necessary permissions to use the client TM. If the TM is stored on a GroupShare server, you may need to verify your access rights.

    Step 2: **Restart Trados Studio**

Sometimes, simply restarting Trados Studio can resolve issues with TMs not being enabled. Close the application and reopen it to see if the TM can be enabled.

    Step 3: **Verify TM Status**

In the project settings, check if the TM is marked as "read-only" or if there are any restrictions on it. If the TM is in use by another project, it may not be available for enabling.

    Step 4: **Check for Duplicates**

If you have access to the SQL database, check for any duplicate entries of the TM name. You can run the provided SQL queries to identify any issues.

    Step 5: **Update Trados Studio**

Ensure that you are using the latest version of Trados Studio. Sometimes, updates can resolve bugs or issues related to TMs.

    Step 6: **Contact the Agency**

If the above steps do not resolve the issue, it may be worth reaching out to the agency that provided the package to confirm whether they have enabled the TM for your use.

  • Hi, thanks for your suggestions. I've deselected the check box in front of the TM name but it still will not allow me to check the 'enabled' box.
I also can't see a file named TM in the sub-folders of the folder where I saved the package.  I'll upload a screenshot of that folder. Apologies if you have received this reply several times. I can't see that it has published it so perhaps I replied in the wrong place.File Explorer window showing the 'For Translation' folder with four items: en-US, IT-IT, Reports folders, and a file named 'De Agostini Annual Report 2024.sdlproj'.
