Bug when translating into Japanese

Hi Team,

As you can see in my image below, the 1st segment was translated as 17%, and I updated my TM.

But When I trying to translate 2nd segment, it showed 17パーセント than 22%.

The TM is a clean new TM, doesn't contain any other segments.

In fact I realised I used the same source for all three segments so did it again:

Screenshot of Trados Studio showing translation results for a segment. The source text is in Chinese, and the target text is in Japanese. The match percentage is 17% in purple text.

    Same, correct result.

  • I don't use Trados 2022, but I have seen a similar report on that behavior either (with Trados Studio 2022 SR1 17.1.6.16252). Try to type the word "percent" instead of the % char for the target segment 1, confirm it and see what happens then. I bet you would get the % character for segments 2 and 3 even though you type "percent" for segment 1. This is not ok too but it happens in most cases. The real weird thing is that on some rare occasions Trados puts the word "percent" in segment 2 and 3 even when you type the % character in segment 1. I have seen only one case reported on such "reverse" behavior.

Scenario 1: When you have three similar segments that mention different values in %, if you type "percent" in the first segment instead of %, the repetitions (segments 2 and 3) would still end up with the % character overriding the word "percent". This happens in 99 cases out of 100.
Scenario 2: When you have three similar segments that mention different values in %, if you type the % character in the first segment, the repetitions (segments 2 and 3) would end up with the word "percent" overriding the character "%". I have seen only 1 report. This one is the second.

Trados Studio interface showing a translation segment with the source text in Chinese and the target text in Russian. Segment 1 uses the word ' ' for 17%, while segments 2 and 3 use the '%' character for 22% and 27%, respectively. The Term Recognition pane indicates 'No open termbase.'
