I am having a trouble opening a file on Studio.

When I try to open a file in a project shared through GroupShare, Studio crashes without any error.

The same thing happen when I try to open file itself from the folder.

I am using Trados Studio 2021 SR2 and my PC's OS is Windows 11, and I have been working in this condition for past few years but have not encountered this issue in the past.

Has anyone experienced the same problem? Or does anyone have any suggestion?

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with Trados Studio crashing when trying to open files. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the problem:

    **Step 1:** **Check for Updates**

Make sure your Windows operating system is fully updated. You can do this by going to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update and checking for updates.

**Step 2:** **Repair Trados Studio Installation**

    1. Close all RWS applications.

    2. Open Control Panel and navigate to Programs > Programs and Features.

    3. Find Trados Studio 2021 in the list, select it, and click on "Repair."

    4. Restart Trados Studio after the repair process is complete.

    **Step 3:** **Check .NET Framework**

Ensure that you have .NET Framework 4.8 installed, as it is required for Trados Studio 2021. You can check this by going to Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features. If it's not installed, download and install it.

**Step 4:** **Reset Trados Studio Settings**

    1. Close all RWS applications.

    2. Navigate to the following folder:

      `C:\Users\%USERNAME%\App Data\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\Studio16`

    3. Rename the following XML files (for example, add an underscore before/after the file name):

      - Base Settings.xml

      - Plugincache.xml

      - User Settings.xml

    4. Restart Trados Studio and try to open the project again.

**Step 5:** **Move Project to Local Drive**

If the project is stored on a network drive, try moving it to a local drive (e.g., C:\) and then attempt to open it again.

**Step 6:** **Check for Corrupted Resources**

If the issue persists, check if any Translation Memory (TM) or Termbase is corrupted by disabling them one by one in Project Settings.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, consider reverting to an earlier version of Trados Studio or upgrading to a newer version if possible.
