Trados crashes continuously

... and this absurd message appears:

Error message in Trados Studio stating 'Data at the root level is invalid. Line 1, position 1.' followed by a block of illegible text with Chinese characters and an OK button.

never seen it before in 30 years of Trados use! what is happening??

  • Did something changed recently on this computer that might influence the keyboards? a Windows update, a new software installed? You can check the keyboard shortcuts  - going File-Options- Keyboard Shortcuts

And you mentioned that you put back the license on this computer today - this means what exactly? Did you install it again or just activated it again?

As for the error, it may indicate a corrupted file, yes, but I am not sure what you did exactly when switching between the two computers and how you moved the packages and the files between the two computers.

If paths changed for the files, but you tried opening them as if from their previous path, this may throw an error because Trados won't find the files where they were supposed to be.
