Segmentation rules in German version of Trados 2019

Hi, I use the German version of Trados Studio 2019 and have transferred to a new computer. Unfortunately my segmentation rules are no longer working properly, especially

1) no longer segmenting on a sentence basis (even though I have set "Sentence-based" segmentation in language resources) and
2) within numbers (where it is segmenting in the middle of numbers due to the use of thousand-place full stops in German numbers.

Where can I find the standard/default full-stop segmentation rule for the German version of Trados 2019?

Many thanks, Greg Vanes

  • Hello Paul

I‘ve always translated files individually (all Word files), not via projects. I only have one massive TM, which gets linked automatically to any new translation. The segmentation rule has worked for years, and it‘s only since I have transferred to a new computer that the problems have arisen. Segmentation now seems to be working on a paragraph basis, not a sentence basis, so my TM often doesn’t recognise anything. I can, however, find the translations via concordance.

I will try your suggested method of setting up a new TM.

    Thanks, Greg
