How can XLIFF comments be viewed in Word? - Trados 2024 SR1

Hi,

Since upgrading to the latest version of Trados Studio (subscription Freelance), I no longer see any of my translation comments in the exported Word or PowerPoint files.

It seems the new version doesn’t transfer the comments into the target documents, so they remain only inside the Studio project/XLIFF.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Jimena

P.S. May I also ask if there is any option to enable voice dictation directly in the Desktop Editor?

Question improvement suggestion: Please specify the exact steps you have taken to export the comments and any settings you have checked in Trados Studio 2024 SR1.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Jimena,

To view XLIFF comments in Word after exporting from Trados Studio 2024 SR1, please follow these steps:

**Step 1:** Ensure that you have enabled the option to retain comments in your project settings. Go to **Project Settings > File Types > Microsoft Word 2007-2019 > Common** and check the box for **Retain Studio target comments in target file**.

**Step 2:** If you have not done so already, enable the option to **Extract comments for translation** in the same settings area. This will ensure that comments are included in the translation process.

**Step 3:** After adjusting these settings, re-open your SDLXLIFF file to ensure the changes take effect.

**Step 4:** Once you have confirmed the settings, generate the target file by going to **File > Save Target As**.

**Step 5:** Open the exported Word document to check if the comments are now visible.

If you still do not see the comments in the exported file, please double-check that you are using the latest version of Trados Studio and consider resetting your settings to default as a troubleshooting step.
