Probably no way to completely avoid work here... a good example of why it's better to convert to Word first, fix the likely segmentation issues and then translate the Word file.  But now you're here maybe one solution would be to do this:

1. align the target translation (which should be a word file) with the new word file you've been given, focusing on maintaining the segmentation on the basis of the new word file
2. that will get you an aligned file which you can import into a TM
3. create your project with this TM and now you'll have better luck

Still time intensive, but may be quicker than merging/splitting segments in the Studio Editor.

You could even try using a tool like LF Aligner (open source aligner that is quite simple and effective to use) to get your TM and this might be faster.

I was not comfortable with the alignment, so I've merged segments and reworked the project (as mentioned in your post and advised by support).

But now I'm unable to generate my target Word file.

I get 15 error messages as follows

I've merged segments as advised and reworked the entire translation, and now I'm unable to export my Word file.

From what I've seen here (https://community.rws.com/product-groups/trados-portfolio/trados-studio/f/studio/32452/sdl-xliff-validation-error-at-line-offset-while-working-with-odt-file), the merge could be the problem. But what do I do now? 

Please help me, anyone...

I don’t think I advised you to do that. You’re just propagating the problem instead of fixing it. You’ll never get away from the effort involved if you don’t sort the source out.

Nevertheless… what version of Studio are you using?

I work with Trados Studio 2024 SR1 - 18.1.2.6370

I've finally managed to sort the issues out.I used 2 steps:

1. I switched off the validation of SDLXLIFF in my project settings, so all these error types disappeared (as indicated in the post I mentioned in my previous message).

2. I modified the core file to delete the below message. When I say "I", I actually mean my husband, who happens to be a software engineer (and this helps!!). He "simply" deleted a couple of tags from the file (thorse mentionned in the error message below), and strangely enough, this solved the issue without affecting the target file.

That being said, I must say I don't understand what happened and any of those messages.

So, I did send you the corrupted sdlxliff and the source PDF so we can possibly try to understand what occurred here.
