Trados Studio 2014 will not start

Question

Hello all, 
 This is my first time on the forum, so please be gentle with me. 
 I've been working very happily with Studio 2014 SP2 on Windows 10 for several months, but I'm now unable to use the software at all, as it will no longer start up. 
 When I try to start it, everything initially seems fine, the licence is recognised etc. but then, before the software even opens up, I receive the following error: 
 Service 'Sdl.TranslationStudio.AlignmentEditor.IAlignmentEditorService' could not be started. 
 From what I can tell, the problem seems to have started since a recent automatic Windows 10 update. Unfortunately, I was not aware that restore points in Windows 10 have to be activated (which I have now done), so I am unable to undo this update. 
 I'd be very grateful for any thoughts or advice.

Hi Steve, 
 
I have seen this reported a few times in other forums and the solution for all the other users was upgrading to Studio 2015 which seemed to resolve the problem. So I haven't seen a solution to this for 2014 yet. 
 
But let's try a reset and see if that helps. Based on Studio 2014 rename this folder (just add _old to the end or something, it's not important what you rename it to) and restart Studio: 
 
c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\SDL Trados Studio\11.0.0.0\

ok - in this case can you log a support case so one of the engineers can take a look at your problem? 
 Go to the Knowledgebase ; 
 Then go to the tab called Solution Finder and now go here; 
 Download & Installation Problems 
 - I use SDL Trados Studio and/or SDL MultiTerm 2009, 2011, 2014 or 2015 
 -- The installation went fine but now I get an error message etc 
 --- The problem occurs in (pick the appropriate tool/s) 
 ---- None of the articles resolved my problem (if they didn&rsquo;t!) 
 Follow the route for your problem and if there is no answer that helps by the time you get to the end you'll be presented with a form to contact support. Complete all the fields in the form making sure your email address is entered correctly or nobody will be able to get back in touch with you. 
 Also use the Chrome browser to log the case if you have it; you'll get more success in completing the form.

c:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Roaming\SDL\
