"Formatting," "Translation Memory," "Terminology," and "Segment actions" in my Trados Studio 2024 are greyed out and I am getting an error message when clicking on the Project Termbase Settings button!

I do not know why what I wrote on the subject line is happening.

I have already read other forums in the RWS Community and tried some options that did not work for me but resulted in other issues:

I already tried deleting the folders called "Studio18" and "18". This did not work but resulted in (a) my Open AI machine translation tool not popping up in the AI Assistant label menu and (b) no machine translation tool being available in the list of translation memories (list of translation providers). Therefore, I restored the aforesaid folders from the recycle bin, which helped me remedy these two problems I just described under letters a and b.

What I just said in the very previous paragraph means that I should not try uninstalling and then reinstalling Studio 2024 as a solution for the issue set out in the subject line.

Therefore, I just want to ask you why this is happening and how I can solve this, in order for me to (x) work by confirming segments to upload them in my translation memories and (y) include my termbases in my translation project as normal.

Please help me. I need to resume my translation duties.

Kind regards,

Nicolai CASTILLO

Question improvement suggestion: Provide the exact error message you receive when clicking on the Project Termbase Settings button, as well as the version of your operating system.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello Nicolai,

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with Trados Studio 2024. Let's try to address the problem step by step.

    **Step 1:** **Check for Updates**

Make sure that your Trados Studio 2024 is up to date. Sometimes, issues can arise from using an outdated version. You can check for updates within the application.

    **Step 2:** **Repair Installation**

Since you've already tried deleting folders, I recommend running a repair installation of Trados Studio. Here’s how:

    1. Close all RWS applications.

    2. Open the Control Panel.

    3. Navigate to Programs and Features.

    4. Find Trados Studio 2024 in the list, right-click on it, and select "Repair."

    5. Restart your computer after the repair is complete.

    **Step 3:** **Reset Settings**

If the issue persists, you can reset the non-project-related settings:

    1. Close all RWS applications.

    2. Navigate to the following folder:

      `C:\Users\%USERNAME%\App Data\Roaming\Trados\Trados Studio\`

    3. Rename the folder to something like `Trados Studio_old`.

    4. Restart Trados Studio.

    **Step 4:** **Check Termbase Settings**

After performing the above steps, check if the "Project Termbase Settings" button is still greyed out. If it is, please provide the exact error message you receive when you click on it.

    **Step 5:** **Operating System Compatibility**

Ensure that your operating system is compatible with Trados Studio 2024. If you are using an older version of Windows, it may cause certain features to be unavailable.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, please let me know the exact error message you are encountering, and we can explore further solutions.

I hope this answer addressed your question. If not, please reject the answer, add the question improvement suggestion information, and click the RWS Community AI checkbox on the right to try again.
