Trados Studio 2022 keeps freezing

Good afternoon,

I'm having a problem with Trados Studio 2022 17.2.12.19268. A client has sent me a translation package, I've opened it but every time I access the editor, Trados freezes and I have to force it closed via the Windows task manager. I have updated it to the latest service release as I thought that might be the issue, but nothing. The client has just replied saying they're using Trados 2024. Could that be the issue? Any ideas on what I might have to do? Thanks in advance.

Question improvement suggestion: Provide specific details about the translation package, such as its format and any additional resources included, to help diagnose the issue more effectively.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It sounds like you're experiencing a frustrating issue with Trados Studio 2022 freezing when trying to access the editor. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the problem:

**Step 1:** Ensure that your Trados Studio 2022 is fully updated. You mentioned that you have already updated to the latest service release, which is great.

**Step 2:** Check if the translation package you received from your client is compatible with Trados Studio 2022. Since your client is using Trados 2024, there might be compatibility issues. If possible, ask your client to resend the package in a format that is compatible with your version.

**Step 3:** Repair your Trados Studio installation. You can do this by going to 'Programs and Features' in the Control Panel, selecting Trados Studio 2022, and choosing the 'Repair' option.

**Step 4:** Verify that you have the .NET Framework 4.7.2 or later installed, as this is required for Trados Studio 2022. If you have it installed, consider refreshing the installation by toggling the .NET Framework feature off and on in Windows Features.

**Step 5:** Check for any corrupted Translation Memories (TMs) or termbases. You can do this by disabling them one by one in the Project Settings to see if the freezing issue persists.

**Step 6:** If your translation resources are stored on a shared drive or cloud service, try moving them to your local drive and see if that resolves the issue.

**Step 7:** If the problem continues, consider resetting Trados Studio to its default settings. This can often resolve unexpected behavior.
