When confirming a segment makes Studio freeze

Hello Community,

I am using Studio Freelance 2022 SR2 CU12.

For a long time already, I have been suffering the following issue: if I confirm, with CTRL+ENTER (or even with CTRL+ALT+ENTER)  a segment followed by a significant number (hard to be more accurate!) of already confirmed segments, Studio just freezes and must be closed using the Windows task manager.

Of course, the workaround is to use CTRL+ALT+MAJ+ENTER, but it is already tricky when you have second thoughts and want to improve a much previous segment translation, but it becomes a bloody nuisance when you are QA-checking (F8) a large prroject and want to amend the segments flagged by the QA-checker.

Has anyone else suffered this same issue and found a way of solving it?

Best regards.

Gérard

  • Hi Gérard,

I noticed that this issue sometimes happens with segments that end with a space char. Trados (in editor mode) simply freezes like you mentiond it. The workaround that sometimes helps is to use the context menue to confirm that specific segment. Sometimes it also has to do with (lets call it) unsupported fonts. For sure not every translator has every font and some characters cause troubles when working with trados. (Same problem with some file-types). It's also good to check the file naming before you start a translation job. Sometimes the file name seems to be ok, but the lenght of the save-path exceeds the limits or even worse the file is saved on a network drive or (worst case) onedrive etc. Personally I prefer to work on the local drive even if the backup job is extra work. One last big problem might be some of your plugins. My advice is to test that out by simply deactivating them if you have a specific project/segment which causes freezes.

Hope this helps you to solve some of the problems.

    Kind regards
