SDL trados 2024 SR1 - cannot double-click to open .sdlxliff or .sdlrpx files

I'm currently using Trados Studio 2024 SR1 - 18.1.3.6657 on Windows 10.

I've been trying to double-click on the files in order to open .sdlrpx/.sdlxliff files, but each time I try to do so it opens a new instance of SDL Trados instead of opening the import .sdlrpx file popup / opening the .sdlxliff file in the editor screen like they used to do in SDL Trados 2022.

I am aware of the method for opening them from within Trados and they work; However, I'd still like to have the option for opening projects directly from my desktop without first having to open SDL Trados.

I've tried repairing the installation after reading other forum posts and succeeded in making the .sdlppx file work as before, but the issue still persists with .sdlrpx and .sdlxliff files.

This is not a file association issue - I have confirmed that all files are correctly set up to open with SDL Trados.

Any help with solving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Question improvement suggestion: Provide specific details about any error messages received when attempting to open the files, as well as any additional troubleshooting steps you have already taken.

In the meantime, based on the information you have provided, here is a suggested answer to your question:

    Hello,

It seems you're experiencing an issue with opening .sdlxliff and .sdlrpx files in Trados Studio 2024 SR1, where double-clicking the files opens a new instance of the application instead of the expected behavior. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:

    **Step 1:** **Check File Associations**

    - Right-click on one of the problematic .sdlxliff or .sdlrpx files and select "Properties."

    - Click on the "Change" button next to "Opens with" and ensure that Trados Studio is selected as the default program. If it’s not listed, you may need to browse for the Trados Studio executable.

    **Step 2:** **Repair Installation**

    - Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features.

    - Locate Trados Studio 2024 SR1, select it, and choose the "Repair" option. This can help fix any corrupted files or settings.

    **Step 3:** **Recreate the Project**

    - If the issue persists, consider recreating the project. This can be done by creating a new project and importing the .sdlxliff files again.

    - You can also run the Pre-Translate batch task to retrieve previously translated segments from your Translation Memory.

    **Step 4:** **Check for Updates**

    - Ensure that your Trados Studio is up-to-date by checking for updates within the application. Sometimes, issues are resolved in newer updates.

**Step 5:** **Use the Open Package Function**

    - Instead of double-clicking the files, try opening the package directly from Trados Studio by going to File > Open > Open Package, and select the package file.

If none of these steps resolve the issue, please provide any error messages you encounter or additional details about your setup, and I would be happy to assist further!
