Ok, I guess you can open that DOCX in Word, right?

If so, open a new project in Trados Studio with your DOCX file and, instead of pasting your translated XLIFF s you did:

Yes, I can open it in DOCX but I need to open the target text in Word from the translation in Trados, the thing is I am afraid that the memory will not just reproduce my translation as I confirmed it segment by segment. There are also the non-breaking hyphens and spaces as well as foot note tags that I am not sure will transfer. But I am thinking maybe I can open two Trados windows and copy from the corrupt .sdlxliff into the "brand new one" so to speak. That is more manual work but I do not see another way unless I am missing something.

Apply the PerfectMatch step mentioned below by Anca Stoian. It will save you time and it should be a straight forward step.

Ok great, hopefully I will be able to as in the opened corrupt .sdlxliff file, that option is not clickable.
