Editing source in Studio 2015

I enabled source editing in project settings, opened the file as single file and the segment I wan to edit is not locked. However, if I right-click on segment and select "edit source", the cursor jumps to the first segment in my file and allows editing only that. How can I edit other segments? I created the project myself.

  • Hi Dace,

Try making the segment active first. It sounds as though it's jumping to the active segment.

  • That's what I thought too. So I made it a point of checking that I first select (putting the cursor in, not just by hovering over the segment with the mouse but actually clicking in the segment) the segment I want to edit. But when I right-click and select Edit Source, the cursor jumps to another segment, around which a yellow frame appears, showing (or so I think) that it is now selected. I have seen this happen many times, in different files, in different projects, where i had defined allow source editing.

Within one file, the segment the cursor jumps to is often the same, i.e. I try to correct segment 456, make sure it is selected, right-click and select Edit Source, and the cursor jumps to segment 432 (hypothetical numbers). I go back to segment 456, repeat the whole procedure and again, the cursor jumps to segment 432. The weirdest thing is that, sometimes, it does work, and I haven't been able to find why or when. I have tried the usual operations, i.e. Advanced Save, then quitting Studio, then shutting down Windows, then starting over, it doesn't seem to make any difference. I'd love to find a solution for this, as I often have the problems other have mentioned, such as weird segment divisions.
