High resolution Display: command menus overlapping and ultra small user interface

I have just changed my PC with a new HP Envy Windows 10 I7 with high resolution (3200x 1800 dpi) screen.

Now, all command menus (e.g command toolbar, project list and even start window during startup) appears overlapping and "cropping" and all texts are not completely diplayed...

I've seen some suggestion on SDL Knowledge base (http://kb.sdl.com/#tab:homeTab:crumb:7:artId:4959) but all appears quite hard to implement (I only tried Workaround 1) for a "normal" PC user... Does anybody know a more simple solution?

Thanks

Giovanni

  • 2015 - the program was perfecly working on my Samsung/Windows10
    Thanks
  • ok - I'm afraid the KB is the only way to go as we don't fully support Hi-Res yet. I think if you step through it one part at a time the solution isn't too hard to follow. I tried this a couple of times on laptops belonging to some of our users at a conference last year, workaround 3, and it worked on all but one of them.

So give it a go, it's easier than it looks. If you're really struggling and can't follow the instructions then let me know and perhaps we can arrange a skype session and I can try and help you through it.

    Regards

  • Hi Paul - thank you for answer. IN the meanwhile I've been mailed by Bogdan of SDL Support. Tommorrow I'll try to arrange Workarond 3... Thank you again: I'll let you now the result :-)
  • Giovanni,
    Did it work for you?
I am sorry to report that I tried all 3 options on my Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro with the 3200x1800 resolution, and none worked. Options 1 and 3 did not change absolutely anything, and option 2 led to problems with fitting items on the screen, and Studio still looked ugly...
  • Hi Tomas yes it works with but i needed help of SDL help ("saint" Bogdan.... and Pau!l): very good support from SDL!!!!. I realized the high resolution is a nightmare for many applications. Software provider are not ready for this hardware innovation.
You spend a lot of monet for 3800x100 pixels, but is a cheat!
The problem is over-frustrating when you use heritage external screen with lower resolution.
Well known brands such as Adobe, Dlink an even Microsoft are lagging behind: it's a real issue.
Anyway, now SDL works well on my laptop screen but is a bit blurry with external screen.
Now I'm a bit concerned: what will happen to my PC when SDL will find a final solution??? I'll need to restore my system files? Who will help me? Paul, Bodgan, please stay tuned :-)
