problem concerning opening multiple files in Trados Studio 2015

Hi

I’ve been having a problem concerning opening files in Trados Studio 2015 for the last few weeks. I cannot open multiple files. Whenever I open more than one file, Studio crashes.

When I open just one file the error: “This file was created using a file type definition that does not exist on your system: XML: Accor TARS ...” appears. I’ve been working on this type of files for quite a while, and this problem only started recently. (By the way, I can translate the files normally when I open just one file.)

I also do other jobs in Studio, of course. Can that have anything to do with it? Isn’t the file type ‘XML: Any XML’ intended for this type of files?

I hope someone can help me.

Thanks,

Peter

  • Hello Peter,

The Any:XML filetype is a generic filetype for XML, so may not be suitable for XML where translatable contents in attributes, or dependent on some condition within the file. So normally whoever prepared the project would do so by creating a custom XML file specifically tailored to meet the needs of the XML files they have. If you don't have the custom filetype then you would get this message about the filetype definition not being present, but you would still be able to translate the file and send it back.

However, it's not normal for Studio to crash because of it. Can you share the package or the files you have been sent so we can see what the problem is?

    Regards
