TM matches not populating in bilingual doc

Hi. I was recently helped in this forum related to proper settings for bilingual documents (refer to  "Help with missing tags in target file", 6893).

I could use some additional followup help.

I'm working on a new bilingual translation file, with many similarities to a previous one. I've loaded the TM from the previous job.

As a bilingual doc, the material in the translation section is indicating 0% matches, and I've indicated "Clear 0% match segments" so the segments appear clean.

However, many of the items are 100% or similar matches to items in the translation memory, and I'd like to have those autopopulate. I can't seem to figure out how to make that happen here. Any help would be appreciated.

The attached screen shot illustrates the issue. See line 4, where the TM indicates a 99% match, but does not autopopulate.

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Sanda,

The little blue pencil indicates that your segment's status is "Draft" and you would need it to be "Not Translated" (with the little blank page icon) for Studio to populate the segment with your match. Try this: Use Alt+Delete to completely clear the segment, making sure that the status changes to Not Translated, then move the cursor to a different segment and place it back in your segment. If everything else is as it should be, the segment will populate with your fuzzy match. If that does what you want, then you need to change the status of all the 0% match segments from Draft to Not Translated. You could do that by:

    1. Filtering to show only Not Translated segments
    2. Selecting all the segments (make sure to click on the segment number on the far left). You can select them all by clicking on the first one, then scrolling down to the end, holding the Shift key and clicking on the last one
    3. Right-click with your cursor on one of the segment numbers, then choose Change Segment Status and select Not Translated

    Hope that helps!
