How do I make Studio take me to where I left off (i.e. the next new segment) when opening a file for translation?

Dear Studio 2015 users,

I am not sure if this is the way Studio normally works by taking me directly to the next unconfirmed segment when I open a partially completed file for translation.

But this is not what I have been experiencing with my first Studio project on Windows 10.  When I open the file, it takes me to Segment 100.  I looked the settings under the Bookmarks and found that I have Last segment and Last segment in project both set at Segment 100.  I don't remember ever doing this myself, so I assume it's the default setting.  I would like to remove both bookmarks since it makes no sense to open the file with cursor in segment 100 (I am already into the 600 segment zone), but the Edit bookmark and Remove bookmark features are disabled.

What can I do to make the file open to where I wanted it to be?

Thank you.

  • Hi Chunyi,

Seems to be a black art with no responses to this one!  This is what I think... if the edit bookmarks is greyed out then this is because you have either not selected a bookmark to delete it, or the ones in there are the defaults and not anything you can remove.

Now,  if you want the file to open at the location you are then this is the bookmarks feature that controls it.  So perhaps you can reset this by opening the settings here and deselect the box I have checked:

Open your file again and close it.  Now go back and click on the settings, check that option again and click on OK.  Now open your file again, go down to your 600th segment... or whatever and do something.  So confirm a segment maybe.  Close the file and then open it again.

Did this reset the bookmarks so they are working correctly?

    Regards

  • Hi Paul,

It seems it's finally working properly:) There might be too many bookmarks in the first file so Studio got confused. I started working on the second file in the project and did not experience the same issue with the above settings applied.
Thank you for your help--I was not aware of the bookmark settings option.
