Does Studio auto change a subsequent 100% match segment to reviewed in review mode?

Dear Studio 2015 users,

The file I am editing in Studio has quite a few repetitive segments.  Say, for example, segments 1, 3 and 5 are repetitions which have been confirmed (with a checkmark) by the translator.  When I open the file for review, I confirm segment 1, which now has a magnifying icon.

Is there a setting in Studio that will auto-change the status of segments 3 and 5 to reviewed/approved?  After I confirmed segment 1, nothing happened to segments 3 and 5.  I am hoping to see these two repetitive segments set as reviewed/approved without additional manual work.  Is it possible with Studio 2015?

Thank you!

  • I'm with Nora on this and also Chunyi. I played with this setting this afternoon and had a chat with Daniel about it and we agreed that it made sense to AP the status even if you don't make any changes. At least it should work in the same way as if you changed it. I don't think you can use the ability to set them as reviewed when you close the file all the time because if you deliberately wish to leave some unreviewed to come back to later then you won't be able to... that option is all or nothing.

So we have logged an enhancement request. Don't know when it'll be done, but it's logged.

  • We leave segments with status "translation rejected", they will NOT be automatically changed to approved - which is exactly the behavior we need. Also segments in "not translated" status won't be changed too - play with that option. This is however something which should automatically be put on "approved" - as these segments are untranslated in case one has copied the source to target without editing. This happens to us often for number segments.
If you wish to return to segments, lock them. They won't be changed too, unless you confirm you wish them to be changed.
So I do not think the current option is that bad - I like the possibility to have the segments all upgraded. However, I would have nothing against auto-propagating the updated status to unchanged segments too. In fact this is how it worked, when track changes were first implemented.
The options for the process have been changed many times in the meantime. For some time closing the file caused ALL segments to be put to approved status, even those, which have been rejected - and that was really pain somewhere. This is most certainly why I am not unhappy with the current situation. In our 4-eyes-scenario the culprit is to keep a copy of the file with NOT approved changes - for the purpose of the audit. And this works perfectly with the option "Save copy as". So by all means, if you change something in this process, do NOT change this!
    Best regards, Jerzy
