Hi Caroline,
You didn't tell us anything about the version of Studio you have or your windows setup... these things are always helpful. However, I believe this may be related to to Visual C++ 2010 x86 runtimes being affected by a windows update. Please close Studio and then reinstall Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 from this location:
c:\ProgramData\Package Cache\SDL\Dependencies\2010_vcredist_x86.exe
Then restart your computer and reinstall Studio.
Let me know if this helps?
Regards
Paul

You don't need to return it. This should not lose your license but even if it does we can reset it quickly for you.
Offline deactivation won't help you here, it's a different process for something else.
Unknown said:By reinstall Studio, do you mean a fresh install?
No I don't mean a fresh install, no need to uninstall Studio. You could probably just run a repair. But feel free to do a fresh install if you like... won't hurt. The important thing is you reinstall the Visual C++ asemblies.
Unknown said:The KB article mentions that Visual C++ 2010 10.0.40219 is the problem, which is the one in the location you provided. Do I need to deleted the exe file in that location?
No, don't delete it! Run it!!
