Sad news about Sian Cooper

I'm sorry to share some sad news with the SDL community this morning. Sian Cooper passed away yesterday after battling against cancer for several years.
I was fortunate to work on a big project with Sian earlier this year, and was amazed the way she cheerfully tackled the everyday challenges of our work while coping uncomplainingly with her increasingly complex health problems. She said, “acceptance is liberation”.

Sian was enthusiastic, intelligent, determined and very brave. A great inspiration for many translators.
She will be sorely missed.

  • That is very sad Emma. I didn't know Sian personally but I spoke with her quite often through email and in the community. She had a knack of presenting seemingly simple problems in a very honest way that almost always turned out to be a lot more complex than first thought... a very clever lady. She never once mentioned her personal problems.
I'll miss the random contact we had and I'm sorry we never got the chance to meet somewhere. She will be missed.
    Paul.
