[Trados Studio 2015] Stuck at "Convert to Translatable Format"

Question

Hello everyone, 
 
 I am trying to create a project from the default template. A customer has sent me a folder structure containing 450 .ttx-files. When trying to create the project without any TM or TB, the New Project Wizard gets stuck at the first step (Convert to Translatable Format), the progress bar for this step doesn't even appear. I left it running for 45 minutes already, and Trados is constantly using 25% of my CPU (probably 1 of the cores), and nothing else is happening. I am using a gaming rig with reasonable performance and 16 GB RAM, so that shouldn't be the issue. 
 Is there anything I can do to make this work?

Hi Nico,

I have some more feedback on this now and we are wondering what your client uses to create these files? The Studio TTX filter expects empty segments to look like this:

But in your files they look like this and the Studio filter rejects them:

I did try to fix this by running the file through Workbench again, but without the settings file I can't validate this. So perhaps your client can help you with this?

Hi Paul, 
 
you are absolutely right, thank you so much for the quick help. I did a recursive Search & Replace through the entire directory and am importing the files as I am writing this reply. 
 
Thanks also to the dev team for looking into this so quickly, you saved me the project and a lot of nerves. 
 
I will ask the client anyway to investigate why this happened, but at least I can work with the current files now.
