Studio 2015 Freelance doesn't spell check supported languages

Hello there,

I am using Trados Studio 2015 Freelance on Windows 7 and MS Office (Home And Student version), but even though I chose my 5 language variants when activating the license, most of the time Studio does not spell check when translating packages configured for any of these variants. What's even stranger is that the spell check function generally works with packages that use unsupported variants.

Does anyone have a clue about what might wrong and how to solve it?

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Best regards

  • Hi Nora, thanks for your swift reply!

I'm using the Word spell checker. If I recall correctly, the variants I chose were Spanish (Latin America), Spanish (Venezuela), Spanish (Spain), English (UK) and English (US) (I don't generally use Trados to translate into English, but I chose the last two just in case).

I am currently translating a package configured for US English into Latin American Spanish (not the deprecated version of LA_SP), but when I go to Review--> Quality Control within Trados, it says the language is not compatible. It's really strange since both are supposed to be supported. I've translated packages set up for Colombian Spanish, Mexican Spanish and Chilean Spanish, and the spell checker generally works with these.
