Reviewing

Is it possible to review a document in Studio 2015 if I received two files one source the other target language not translated in Trados?

  • Hello Viviana,
you can do it shorter than suggested by Paul Filkin.
First you do an alignment as he suggests to create an tmx-file. Then, you create your studio project using the tmx-file directly as translation Memory (thanks to the tmx type plugin) and pretranslate your file using directly the tmx.
You will get the best results when you make sure that you source and target files have the latest Office format (2016) otherwise you would have to bother with unwanted tags which hinder the segments to be populated properly!
I did it and it is really great. You can do your revision in the translation mode with track changes (preferable) or in the revision mode which is more delicate because of the start to end-contraint you have in this process.
    Good luck.

    Hi Viviana,

I think you're misunderstanding something here.  The TMX filetype allows you to open a TMX file as a translatable file, not as a Translation Memory.  So there may be little value in reviewing the TMX as you still have to get back to the target document.  You can't do that if you start with a TMX.

So your method seems to add a couple of steps which is export to TMX and then pre-translate the source from the updated TMX after upgrading it to an SDLTM again.

    Or maybe I'm misunderstanding you?
