Font size of target documents

Hello

I am quite confused as I would like to contact the Customer Service and cannot go round to it and the finally landed in this page.

I have a question about increasing the font size of the target document in Trados 2015.

Although I have tried it to increase it from - Options (in the main control panel) - Editor - Windows of translation results-, (traslated from the Italan options on the Trados manu) the font size of the target document does not change at all.

Thank you for your help.

Regards

I.C.

  • You do not influence the font size of the document in Studio by anything else than formatting of the source. So if the source uses for example font size 10, the target font size will remain 10. Sometimes documents are not formatted properly and the style does not match the local formatting - in such cases you will need to apply source formatting to your target text in Studio.
In a nutshell: Studio is a CAT tool and not a formatting tool. You cannot expect it to change or add any formatting to your source. The task is to translate the source document into target language. This does NOT imply changing of any formatting.

ok.  The option you have used is for changing the size of the font Translation Memory pane in the Editor while you work, not for changing the size of the font in the target document.  But before we consider this can you just confirm it's not the target font in the editor you wish to change as opposed to the actual font size in the finished target file?

In the meantime this is where you change the size of the font in the Editor where you do the translation.

    1. You can use the ribbon by going to the View tab and on the right handside you'll find these icons:
    2. Or you can go to File -> Options -> Editor -> Font Adaptation

Does this help, or did you really mean the size of the font in the finished file?

    Regards

    Paul

  • Hi Jerzy and Paul, thank you for your replies!

Yes, I was referring to changing the font size in the editor mode so that the translated text looks bigger while editing it, I did not want to edit the final format of the target file.

Paul, I followed your instructions and managed to increase the editor font size from the View Tab.

Thank you very much for your help!
