I can't see tracked changes in imported sdlxliff files

Hello everyone,

I sent some sdlxliff files to an editor. She made some changes using tracked changes and sent them back to me. I replaced my files with her version, which is what I usually do in these cases, but I can't see any of her changes, and the files look exactly as I wrote them.

First I thought my method (replacing my files with hers) was causing the problem, so I created a new project with her files. Nothing, same result.

So I thought she wasn't doing it right, and I asked her to export the files with tracked changes. Those indeed reflect the changes, so I decided to export my files for review and replace them with her files. Nothing, Studio doesn't like that and tells me: this segment was not updated because the content of segment was changed since it was exported for external review.

I'm probably doing something wrong by replacing my sdlxliff files with the edited version, but then what's the best way to import an edited file to accept/reject changes?

Thank you!

Mónica

  • Hi Monica,

The best way is to use Project Packages as this manages the process for you. But if you just want to send sdlxliff files then the way you're working should be fine.

If you open the files you were sent back, as single document projects, and these also don't show tracked changes then the reason can only be one of these three things:

    1. There are no track changes in the file
    2. You've been sent the wrong sdlxliff in which case 1. also applies
    3. You are not showing track changes in the editor

I can't think of any logical reason for this happening otherwise.

    Regards
